Today I finished Macy’s x WIT Job Shadow Program at their headquarters in Johns Creek, Georgia. To say the least I am very impressed with Macy’s Tech! This was a 2-day event to highlight Macy's Tech job roles, skills, and day-to-day life. On our agenda, we had events such as a functional showcase, career talks with MTech professionals, a tour of their data center, a coding demonstration run by actual engineers, and a women's panel discussion. They provided a light breakfast and lunch which was great. I really enjoyed watching their engineers demonstrate live coding projects and talk about their daily tasks.
Some highlights from this event include:
- Discussion with Early Career colleagues
- Ability to ask open questions with honest answers
- Paid certifications and free education
- Diverse in age and race
- Flexibility within department projects
- Hybrid work environment
- FREE EVENT
The only "catch" is I was able to attend this event because I was a member of Women in Technology (WIT). The good news is that WIT is a free organization to join and many universities have campus chapters that hold WIT events (chapters may have dues) for women and men. This was an insightful event with amazing people, I hope to see Macy's Tech in my future!
