Location:
There’s something wildly cinematic about driving through the mountains alone for the first time. Windows cracked. Playlist floating through the car. Snacks in the passenger seat calling my name. 🍃🚗
My recent stay at GLAMP by Stay Minty was more than just a getaway. It became a collection of firsts I didn’t know I needed. My first solo road trip. My first glamping experience. My first time renting a car solo. And somehow, all of those little milestones unfolded in the middle of the Great Smoky Mountains like the universe had queued up the perfect scenery.
Located just 20 minutes from Gatlinburg, GLAMP by Stay Minty offers eight luxury domes tucked into the mountains of Tennessee, creating the kind of peaceful escape that makes your screen time report finally lose its grip on your soul.
What Makes GLAMP by Stay Minty Special?
Camping and I have always had a complicated relationship. I love nature, but I also deeply enjoy indoor plumbing, air conditioning, and not wrestling bugs for ownership of my sleeping space. GLAMP by Stay Minty somehow solved all of that.
Each dome combines the beauty of being immersed in nature with the comfort of a boutique stay. Think “outdoorsy,” but your moisturizer still survives the trip.
My Dome: Midnight Rider 🌙
I stayed in the Midnight Rider Dome dome, and it was the perfect size for a solo traveler. Cozy without feeling cramped. Spacious without losing that intimate cabin-in-the-woods feeling.
One of my favorite parts? The massive windows that let the mountain views pour directly into the room. Waking up to soft morning light filtering through the trees felt like nature personally opening the curtains for me.
Amenities That Make Glamping Worth It Fully Equipped Kitchen
Every dome comes with a full kitchen and outdoor BBQ setup, which made the experience feel even more homey. Whether you want to cook breakfast before a hike or have a late-night snack moment after sitting by the fire, everything is already there waiting for you. I even got a S’mores kit that was perfect for the weekend and very plentiful!
Full Bathroom + Hot Water = Happiness
Let’s collectively thank whoever decided luxury camping should include full bathrooms. No community bathrooms. No awkward flashlight walks at 2 AM. Just your own clean, modern bathroom with hot water and peace.
Tiny luxury. Massive impact.
Private Jacuzzi + Fire Pit
The private jacuzzi became my nightly ritual after exploring the area. Mountains in the background, steam in the air, and absolutely nowhere else to be. Peak main-character energy.
And the private fire pit? Easily one of the best parts of the stay. I was given a s’mores kit and fully leaned into the experience. There’s something about making s’mores under the stars that instantly turns adults back into happy little kids with marshmallow priorities.
Comfortable in Every Season
The domes are equipped with heat, AC, and electric stoves, so whether you visit during cooler mountain weather or peak summer warmth, you’ll stay comfortable year-round.
Nature outside. Temperature control inside. Civilization survives.
The Hospitality Deserves Its Own Applause
One thing that genuinely stood out to me was how effortless the experience felt from beginning to end.
Before arrival, the staff provided detailed information, check-in instructions, recommendations for local tours, hikes, and activities, and made the entire process incredibly smooth. Everything from check-in to check-out was seamless, which is especially comforting when you’re traveling solo.
No confusion. No stress. Just vibes and mountain air.
Tips for Your First Glamping Trip 🏕️
If you’ve been considering glamping, here are a few tips I’d recommend after my first experience:
1. Pack Cozy Layers
Mountain weather loves plot twists. Bring comfortable layers for chilly evenings around the fire pit.
2. Don’t Overpack
One of the best parts of glamping is simplicity. Bring essentials, comfortable clothes, and let yourself relax.
3. Plan for Downtime
Not every trip needs a packed itinerary. Some of my favorite moments were simply sitting outside listening to nature and doing absolutely nothing.
4. Bring a Good Playlist
Trust me. A mountain drive with the right soundtrack feels like therapy with better scenery.
5. Take Advantage of Local Recommendations
The GLAMP by Stay Minty team recommends nearby hikes, tours, and activities, which makes planning incredibly easy.
Final Thoughts
This trip reminded me how important it is to disconnect sometimes. Not dramatically. Not permanently. Just long enough to hear your own thoughts again.
GLAMP by Stay Minty created the perfect environment for that reset. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a group trip, or a solo escape like mine, the domes offer a balance of adventure and comfort that makes stepping into nature feel approachable and exciting.
And for me personally, this experience became more than a stay. It became proof that sometimes the best memories begin with trying something for the very first time. 🌲
